From the end of colonialism and expulsion of the Asians in Uganada to the fall of the Iron Curtain and 9/11, the film discusses the Aga Khan's perspectives on past world events and his forward struggle for a common humanity. Includes additional interviews with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, Dr. Tom Kessinger, and Yasmin Alibhai-Brown.
After the screening, local community members will participate in a panel discussion. This event is co-sponsored by Chaya’s Peaceful Families Project which works in our local Muslim community to help build Peaceful Families and to address the issue of domestic violence. more...
Seattle's 5th Independent South Asian Film Festival Sept 24-28, 2008 • Broadway Performance Hall
Tasveer invites all South Asian youth, ages 17-21, to join us this summer!
Come join Tasveer’s Youth Initiative and work with creative South Asian youth to explore personal, community and global issues through mediums of film and art. To correspond with ISAFF’s theme, this summer we are working on a project to explore attitudes and perceptions of sexuality and homophobia within South Asian communities. No previous knowledge or experience needed, only an openness to learn, have fun, and be creative. For more information contact youth@tasveer.org.
Seeking volunteers for ISAFF
Would you like to be part of the behind the scenes of this dynamic festival? Tasveer is looking for volunteers to help out with festival preparations. We meet every Sunday 3:30-5pm until the festival. Write to info@tasveer.org.
