SAM & Tasveer cohost: Remix with a Twist

Tickets: SAM members $5, Tasveer members $5(checkin with a print of this newsletter), nonmember adults $10, students and seniors $8. Tickets may be purchased at the Ticketing Desk at any of SAM's three sites or over the phone with a credit card by calling the Box Office at 206.654.3121.

Tasveer will be giving away 10 free museum passes at the dance party! First 5 people to ask for 'Tasveer-museum passes' will get a pair each.

DJs I Heart Shiva play bhangra and other hot dance music from India to celebrate the cosmically beautiful exhibition Garden and Cosmos. Come to the Seattle Asian Art Museum to see performances by Rhythms of India and dance 'til midnight at this special After Hours program. Guests must be 21 and over. ID required for entry.

Hima B, a queer South Asian independent writer/director/producer, presents "And I Do Survive," a story about a Trinidadian lesbian who makes her home in a country that denies her citizenship because she is HIV+. Hima will also show "Sistahs Survive and Thrive," a living HIV/AIDS quilt by/for women/girls. A discussion and media-making workshop follow the screening. Share your story! Bring your digital camera, videocam, and/or cell phone so that you can contribute your story and/or AIDS tips to the quilt.

Hima B. is a queer South Asian and an independent writer/director/producer who makes social issue documentaries, narratives, experimental films and videos that explore the intersections of race, gender, sexual orientation, labor, and economics, especially as they impact LGBTQ people and women/girls.
