Dear Loyal Patron of Tasveer,
We, the Tasveer team, want to acknowledge your support for Tasveer and your deep commitment to supporting the unique culture of South Asia. We believe, that just like us, you have been touched by what can be called ‘The South Asian Phenomenon’.
If you agree to the following statements, then read ahead:
1.You are thrilled to hear the latest news coming out of South Asia.
2.Everytime you hear ‘Jai Ho’ blood rushes through your body at twice the normal speed and you start tapping your feat with joy.
3.You desperately look forward to any occasion where you might be able to wear those gorgeous ethnic clothes that are covered with dust and cob webs in your closet.(Not that we are saying that you have cobwebs in your closet)
Now, here are some reasons for you to attend our fun event on Sunday:
1. It is a benefit for the upcoming ISAFF 2009 which happens to feature the best of the original, independent films and documentaries that were recently produced. Few examples are a fun documentary on filmmaking in a textile factory town in “the Supermen of Malegaon,” debut of an Oriya film (the Living Ghost) a tribal love; a delightful treat package of experimental shorts; and the easy-going, smooth riding fun film -I Can’t Think Straight, featuring Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth.
2. Hurry for Hari! Hooray for Hari! He is the funniest, most insightful, wittiest and most up to date South Asian in the USA! Don’t believe us, find out for yourself. He will be bringing new material designed for this special event. He is performing on Aug 23rd at our mega fun event.
3. Seattle’s only South Asian band with Afro- Cuban beats, Anjuman is going to premiere their latest tunes they have been working on. If you have seen them before, this is another opportunity to sit back, relax and let them mesmerize you with their fusion music. If you have not heard them, this is your chance! They have been practicing for this special event like no other one.
4. Rhythms of India’s Bhangra will show what real traditional Bhangra is like. We bet you will be dancing on your chairs.
5. Last but not least, we will have a special sneak peek at the festival hightlights.
6. We will be raffling off some festival passes. Do you want one?
Here’s a little info about what we do at Tasveer:
Tasveer has always had clarity in pursuing our main goal-which is to give our community and culture top priority. Programs offered and produced by Tasveer have little or no corporate funding; and are organized by community members like you. We have built our foundation on love, and on the strength of our volunteers and supportive non-profit organizations.
We are not a marketing based organized and have never felt the need to operate in this manner. But we would like you to attend our pre-ISAFF event to ensure that ISAFF is here to stay for another year. Bring in your enthusiasm, your energy and we will provide the other elements to make it a memorable night for you and your friends and family!
Namaste.
Tasveer Team
